EDUCATION & RESEARCH
Education & Community Work
Alongside her career as a professional soprano, Jessica is a visiting singing teacher at the University of St Andrews and the University of Edinburgh, and at Mary Erskines School (Edinburgh). She has previously worked with The National Youth Choir of Scotland, The Royal Scottish National Junior Chorus, and St Mary's Music School (Edinburgh), and for the outreach departments of Scottish Opera, Edinburgh International Festival, and The Dunedin Consort.
Jessica is also an examiner for the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM), with whom she examines across the UK and internationally.
Research
Jessica is currently undertaking doctoral research into opera outreach at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Her research builds directly upon her experience as a practitioner and investigates the implications of outreach and educational work from the perspective of the professional singer. Jessica presented a paper outlining her doctoral research work at the inaugural Spheres of Singing 2020 conference in Glasgow. She is hugely grateful to the Carnegie Trust for her PhD scholarship, and to Scottish Opera, Edinburgh International Festival and Dunedin Consort for their agreed partnership with the project.
